I want to let you know what's going on so far. unfortunately, there isnt too much to report but i have been doing a lot of thinking.
right now, im focusing on breaking down each section of what i want my organization to represent itself. I think i have been trying to focus on all at the same time (which isnt a bad thing) but doing that a lot can cause confusion and you tend to lose sight of what you are trying to do.
right now, i am focusing on the HIV harm reproduction aspect and the education aspect.
I went to the trojan condom website to see if they do wholesale. I didnt realize that they had such a wide array of condoms - wow! They didnt but they had an online retailer who they sale to: www.condomdepot.com
Thankfully, they do wholesale and they have a vast selection of condoms. condomdepot.com also offers a catalogue for wholesale, so i know where to go once everything is set to go. the prices are really good from what i saw as well.
Going about passing these out at night would be fairly easy i think too. Memphis has plenty of bars and nightclubs that are frequented by all types of people. Im pretty sure that you are familiar with Camel's cigarette's program where they go to clubs/ bars and they set up a booth to give away cigarettes. As Aden mentioned in the first brainstorming topic about the Les Amis group, that would probably be another way i could go about if i was to travel to another city. Anyone who is living in Memphis can tell you that Memphis Police Department is a little silly when it comes to straddling vehicles in places at certain times of night. That's ok. There is always a way.
Meeting clients at designated places where they can feel comfortable such as a coffeeshop is also a good way to build some kind of trust, in case they just want to talk about some problems. You know how that goes.
Im officially going on vacation this wednesday starting at 12 noon. Im going to go check out the facilities for Midsouth Peace and Justice Center. Also, i have not heard from the other organizations that i sent emails to, so i guess it would be better for me to call them and see if there was someone i could talk to.
